TEACHING

"The best music teachers I have had have embraced a spirit of exploration, curiosity and playfulness. They don’t answer my questions but create puzzles and games that help me discover the answers I am seeking. It is so important in music to never stop playing or losing the ability to be playful and explorative. Teaching, in my opinion is not one sided, but rather a coming together of minds and experience to collaboratively learn new things and develop new ways of understanding concepts. Jazz, being a music of intellect but also creativity requires constant innovation and playfulness, creativity and inspiration and that is how I aspire to be as a teacher: to bring constant joy and wonder to the learning environment and to be open to all kinds of learning and methods of growth"
